CURVE Sports Launches CURVE Performance, a National Testing and Training Standard for Youth Baseball Delivered Through Its Member Clubs

Powered by CURVE Sports, CURVE Performance brings the Ball, Body and Brain CURVE Test, data-built training and verified leaderboards to athletes across 29 member organizations in 30 states, under each club’s own name

CURVE Sports, the national network of independent elite youth baseball organizations, today formally launched CURVE Performance, the athlete side of its network, along with a new home for athletes and families at curveperformance.com.
CURVE Performance gives every athlete at a CURVE member club one shared standard: the same test, run the same way, on the same equipment, at every location in the network. Athletes get a complete profile across Ball, Body and Brain, a training plan built from their results, local competition and a verified record of their progress over time.
CURVE Performance is not sold directly to families. Each member club deploys it under its own name, and the club’s own coaches deliver it.
“Too many numbers in youth baseball are self-reported, and college coaches discount them,” said Sandy Ogg, Chief Executive Officer of CURVE Sports. “CURVE Performance gives families numbers they can trust, measured the same way at every club in our network. But a standard only means something if the people delivering it know the athlete. That’s why it lives inside the club, with the coaches who know the player and the program the family chose. Train more, play local. That’s the change families have been waiting for.”

Test. Train. Repeat.
CURVE Performance runs on one cycle:
Test. The CURVE Test measures the complete athlete in about 90 minutes. Ball uses TrackMan to capture hitting and pitching data, from exit velocity, barrel percentage and launch angle to pitch velocity, spin and break. Body pairs Proteus Motion technology with standardized speed and agility testing, administered at CURVE events by Universal Speed Rating’s certified Speed Labs. Brain uses Senaptec to assess focus, reaction time, pitch recognition and decision-making. The protocol is standardized and validated in partnership with Prometric.
Train. Each athlete receives a report that puts every result in percentile context against their age group, with plain-English explanations of what each number means and what to work on. Club coaches use the results to build development plans aimed at the athlete’s real gaps, delivered at the club and under the club’s name.
Repeat. Athletes retest through the season, so progress shows up as a number rather than a feeling, and the plan changes when the numbers do.
Verified leaderboards
Results from across the network feed the CURVE Performance leaderboards, which track the top verified marks in exit velocity, fastball velocity, 30-yard sprint, 5-10-5 agility, vertical jump, grip strength and reaction time. Leaderboards update after every testing day and show athletes by first name and last initial only.
Built into the club calendar
Member clubs can add the CURVE Test to events they already run, including tournaments, college showcases, season-opening weekends and tryouts, or host a Data Day that tests every team and age group in the program in a single day. Clubs can also become a CURVE Performance location, installing equipment to the network standard and offering year-round testing and training at their own facility.
“Families want to know where their player stands and what to work on next,”
Mike Early, Head Baseball Coach, Texas A&M University
“CURVE Performance gives our coaches the same objective numbers every club in the network uses, and gives our players a plan built on them. It’s still our program, and our coaches still make the call. Now there’s a standard behind it.”
CURVE’s advisors include college head coaches who see the problem from the recruiting side. “The idea is to give all baseball players out there trying to get a coach’s attention a real validated, fact-based assessment of their strengths, their weaknesses, what they can work on, and where they are headed,” said Kevin O’Sullivan, Head Baseball Coach at the University of Florida.
Erik Bakich, Head Baseball Coach of Clemson Tigers
